Grandfather Buffon’s new records

Grandfather Buffon’s new records

Did you read our Technica-history about the goalkeeper-talent Gianluigi Donnarumma from AC Milan, who as 16-year-old had his début for Serie A, and who’s now as 17-year-old hunts the seat in the Italian national team?
It’s a great history about the fact that if you’re good enough, you’re not too young. But the opposite does also count. Are you good enough, you’re not too old.
And it does also concern Donnarumma’s rival Gianluigi Buffon who’s 38 years old.
On the national team they call him 'Grandfather' – when he can’t hear it.
He has three children and is old enough to be a trainer instead of a player, but 'Grandfather' has just played her international match number 167 for Italy, where he of course kept the 0 against Germany.
No still active player in the whole world has played more international matches than Buffon.
The goalkeeper has played for Juventus since 2001, and you can’t say his age makes him worse.
In the last season he set a record in Serie A for the longest shoal of matches without letting any goals inside the goal; 12 matches and all in all 974 minutes.
Buffon is just a winner, and his personal cupboard counts among other things 7 Italian championships with Juve and the world championship with Italy in 2006.
