Focus

This play in majority trains the players’ quality in passes and their 1st touches under moderate pressure. Furthermore, the players train their own ability to place oneself correctly compared to the ball, fellow players, and opponents. The exercise also develops the players’ perception.

Instructions

The coach tells the players about the focus areas in order to create awareness about understanding the goals of the exercise. The exercise is done in 4 intervals of 2 minutes, where the breaks are used actively for adjustments and coaching. The small details often make a big difference - that also goes for this exercise, where the coach’s keywords should be: correct speed in passes, passing in angles, movements compared to the ball carrier, the fellow players, and opponents, along with creating angles in the play. Depending on the players’ level, the area could be adjusted. You could also play e.g. 5:3.
