Focus on good passing skills and the ability to place oneself with the right angle to the ball carrier. The exercise trains the functional pass, where speed and accuracy are of the essence.
The coach takes the position midfield and points out how to play. Focus on the correct pass with the right speed and accuracy. The player midfield operates for 2 minutes and then swaps with one of the supporters. The exercise can be varied by having the midfield player stop at the middle cone after each pass. With the right timing between the ball carrier and the midfield player, and the midfield player moves to the blind side and passes back to the supporter.
